The first AP47s on the campus¶
Mist's view on 2026-10-27¶
One read of Mist's API for the first campus site with AP47s: the site's derived settings and WLANs, its AP stats and its client stats. Nobody was on site; nothing was captured on the air.
The site. 38 AP47s are claimed and 1 is connected; the rest of the site is AP43 and AP43E. The connected AP47 runs firmware 0.15.35064 (hardware revision CB) on 802.3bt, 25.5 W allocated.
The radios, from the site's RF template:
| Band | Template | The connected AP47 |
|---|---|---|
| 2.4 GHz | 20 MHz, power 3 to 11 | channel 1, power 3, util_all 37 %, util_non_wifi 24 % |
| 5 GHz | 20 MHz, channels 36 to 64 and 100 to 140, power 9 to 17 | channel 36, power 15, util_all 68 %, of which util_tx 58 % |
| 6 GHz | disabled; 80 MHz, power 8 to 17 when enabled | disabled, no WLAN |
- 6 GHz is off for the whole site, in the RF template, not per AP. Width and power for it are set already.
- 5 GHz at 20 MHz is within everything the sensor decodes. The campus runs 5 GHz at 20 or 40 MHz per site, by measurement and RF design, never wider (the network team, 2026-10-27); 160 and 320 MHz occur only on 6 GHz, which is off.
The WLANs. eduroam is on 2.4, 5 and 6 GHz with 11be on (disable_11be: false), WPA3 and WPA2-CCMP in transition mode, 11r. The IoT SSID has 11be off. No WLAN carries an MLO field in the derived configuration.
The clients. 16 clients on the AP47, all on eduroam. Mist names two "be", both Apple: one on 2.4 GHz, one on 5 GHz, each with WPA3-EAP-FT/CCMP. The site holds no other "be" among some 770 clients. The rest is "ax", "ac" and "n"; two Intel laptops on the AP47 use WPA3-EAP-SHA256 (AKM 5) instead of FT.
- With Mist's Wi-Fi 7 Security off, the AP47 serves EHT on one link with CCMP: "be" with a CCMP pairwise cipher. MLO with GCMP-256 is not on the campus.
- The stats of a client on the AP47 carry the same fields as those of a client on an AP43: nothing about MLO, links or an MLD address with firmware 0.15.35064.
